JBizPro Backup Guard

Copies the folders that matter - documents, photos, accounting files - to an external disk or a file server, and keeps the older versions.

You need a key to use these. The programs are free, but they only run for JBizPro customers with a live plan. Issue a key in My Page → Keys and paste it into the program when it asks. One key belongs to one PC, and you can move it to another PC at any time.
No account yet? Create one - any plan includes all of them.

JBizPro Backup Guard

Windows · version 1.0.4 · free with any JBizPro plan

Copies the folders that matter - documents, photos, accounting files - to an external disk or a file server, and keeps the older versions.

This is the only guide we keep, so it never goes stale. The Manual link in the program opens this same page.
1. Install v1.0.4
  1. Download the installer on the PC you want to back up.
  2. Run it and click through. It does not ask for an administrator password.
  3. You get a desktop shortcut, and it starts with Windows so a backup still happens after a restart.
Why it does not go into Program Files. The program updates itself, and Windows does not let a normal user replace a file in Program Files - the update would fail every time. So it installs into your own user folder.
2. Activate
  1. On the Keys tab: name the PC → Issue key. The key is shown once.
  2. The program opens its Activation window by itself. Paste the key, type a name for this PC, and press Activate.
A key belongs to one PC. Changing computers is fine - press Release PC on the Keys tab, then use the same key on the new one.
3. Choose what to back up
  1. Press Set up a backup.
  2. Folders to back up - add the folders that matter: documents, photos, accounting files. Each is copied under its own name.
  3. Where to keep the backup - an external disk, or a network folder that is already connected (\\nas\backup, or a mapped drive like Z:\backup).
  4. Press Use this folder for backups. The program writes a marker file and does a real write test before it accepts the folder.
  5. Skip files matching (optional) and Keep old versions for (90 days by default) → Save.
The marker file is what protects you. If the backup disk is not plugged in, the program stops instead of quietly making a new E:\Backup folder on the C: drive - the mistake that fills the system drive while you believe you have a backup. Do not delete _backupguard.json from the backup folder.
4. What it does every day

It runs once a day at the time you set (12:00 by default). If the PC was off then, it catches up shortly after the PC starts.

That last point is the reason to use this instead of a plain sync tool. If a file is deleted by mistake, or scrambled by ransomware, the good copy is still in _archive.
5. Getting a file back

You do not need the program. Open the backup folder in Explorer and copy the file back. That is exactly why the newest copy keeps the same folder shape as the original.

E:\Backup\MainPC\ ├ Documents\ <- newest copy, same layout as the original ├ Pictures\ └ _archive\ ├ 2026-09-05\Documents\contract.hwp <- the version before that day's change └ 2026-09-01\Pictures\deleted.jpg <- a file removed from the original
6. If something looks wrong
What you seeWhat to do
“The backup disk is not connected” Plug the disk in (or reconnect the network folder) and press Back up now. The program never writes somewhere else instead.
“This is a different disk than the one this backup was set up on” Windows gave the drive letter to another disk. Connect the right one - or open Settings and pick the folder again to accept the new disk.
“N files could not be copied” Usually files that were open at the time (Outlook, Excel). Close them; the next run picks them up. The list is on the main screen.
“Not enough space on the backup disk” Old versions are cleared first, automatically. If it still does not fit, the backup does not start - use a bigger disk, or lower Keep old versions for.
It stopped and mentions the subscription The programs are free while a JBizPro plan is running. Renew on the Billing page. Your backup files are never touched.
